Auckland CBD Shared Spaces

|

The Auckland CBD Shared spaces is an urban design concept aimed at integrated use of public spaces within the Auckland City CBD and has commenced pavement construction in early 2011 with Darby Street and Fort Street.

Shared space removes the traditional segregation of motor vehicles, pedestrians and other road users. Conventional road priority management systems and devices such as kerbs, lines, signs and signals are replaced with an integrated, people-oriented understanding of public space, such that walking, cycling, shopping and driving cars become integrated activities.

Auckland CBD Shared spaces feature extensive use of Steintec. Since the introduction of high performance products to the paving industry, Steintec has set an industry benchmark for the quality of its specialist mortars and grouts. All of the paving products from the Steintec accredited range have been proven to comply and exceed the required industry standards of BS7533 and have an extensive track record of success both internationally and throughout New Zealand.
