Pukeahu National War Memorial Park
The National War Memorial is a high quality urban park that will be a major focal point for New Zealanders to commemorate days of remembrance and will open for the 100 year anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in April 2015.
The National War Memorial commemorates New Zealanders who gave their lives in the South African War, two World Wars, the conflicts in Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam and on world-wide peace-keeping operations. It also honours the servicemen and women who served in those wars.
Development of the Park is a key part of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage’s commemoration of the centenary of the First World War.
