The Landing Wigram
The Landing at Wigram Skies is an exciting architecturally designed town square, High Street style collection of restaurants, cafés, shops and a mixed use community space built on the site of the former Wigram Aerodrome. In 1997 Ngai Tahu Property purchased the former Wigram Aerodrome site with the long term view of subdividing the land and creating a sustainable, masterplanned community in south west Christchurch.
Significant cultural and heritage elements feature throughout the Town Square and Wigram Skies subdivision which reflects the history of the Ngai Tahu tribe. Featuring artisanal natural stone modular pavements by Paul Rice of Deccan Landscapes along with artwork which has been inspired by Ngai Tahu rock art and gives an insight into the past world of tipuna (ancestors).
