ESCOFET – Hebi Bench
HEBI is a modular cast stone bench with an extremely artistic extruded shape, reminiscent of an inverted truncated pyramid. Its acid-etched waterproof finish is available in all standard colours. The Japanese word for snake, HEBI, is evoked by the name, and there is no doubt that the idea of snaking freely amongst trees and shade is the spirit that prompted the development of this furniture. Its sculptural lines project an organic sense of movement, as if it was able to stretch and zigzag through parks, squares and gardens. There are two versions: HEBI MACIZO, which is set unanchored on the ground along its full length, and HEBI FLOTANTE, which uses anchorage points to rest on its extremities, letting light and air flow through. Both versions can be supplied in straight and curved sections to facilitate their combination in large-scale projects. HEBI was designed for Escofet in 2003 by José Antonio Martínez Lapeña and Elías Torres. It was first installed to furnish the Central Esplanade in Barcelona’s Forum Park.
